Security measures up for last day filing of COCs

-

AN official of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (Cocpo) is urging supporters of warring political parties in the city to observe orderly filing of Certificate of Candidacy (CoC’s) today, October 17.

Cocpo spokesperson Superintendent Mardy Hortillosa II said security measures are already in place in case warring political parties meet at the Commission on Elections (Comelec) office on the deadline of the CoC filing.

Members of the City Mobile Force, Mobile Patrol Unit, Explosives Ordnance Division (EOD) team and personnel from the Police Station 1 were already briefed on security protocols during the CoC filing.

Hortillosa said police security officers were ordered to ensure that supporters will not turn unruly and candidates file their CoCs orderly and peacefully.

Policemen have started positioning outside the poll body’s office to provide security since October 11.

Hortillosa said the warring political parties may not meet at the Comelec office for the filing as the administration ticket is expected to file in the morning while the opposition is on the afternoon.

But still, Hortillosa urged supporters to avoid unruly behavior and obey the security officers.

Hortillosa also urged candidates to control their supporters. Alwen Saliring
