Completed FMR in MisOR now benefits 906 households

-

Misamis Oriental-Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) Regional Coordination Office 10 is now fast tracking its project implementation after they turned over another farm to market road (FMR) project in Municipality of Initao.

The concreting of Canilawan-Cogon FMR amounting to P 27.6 million with 3.0815 kilometer length will now provide a smooth travel experience among the residents in the area. This will greatly help the 906 households in the affected barangays, especially those farmers of coconut, corn, mango and banana.

This PRDP project aims to reduce the poverty incidence by 10%, to increase the household income by 15%, and to increase farmers’ farm profitability by 10% through upgrading of farm-to-market roads and provide better road accessibility among the beneficiaries.

The Municipality of Initao is a 3rd class municipality in the province of Misamis Oriental. Locals in this town rely on fishing and agricultural farming as their main source of income.

This completed FMR is second among the three infrastructure projects turned over to the LGU of Initao.

“I would like to congratulate the Local Government Unit of Initao for this another successful project with DA-PRDP. This is the second project we turned over to your municipality and hopefully soon we will have another turnover for the concreting of Jampason- Dagongon FMR,” said PRDP 10 Project Head and Regional Director of DA 10, Carlene C. Collado.

Director Collado led the turnover ceremony to LGU Initao with Mayor Enerito J. Acain V.

“In behalf of the people of Initao, we are very thankful to PRDP for providing us support in our infrastructure development. We are even fortunate enough to receive three projects that will totally change the lives of many farmers,” said Mayor Acain.

“In fact, residents in Brgy. Tawantawan and San Pedro are now motivated to go back in farming since transportation of their goods is now much faster and safer. We will make sure that we will take care of this road,” added Mayor Acain. PR
