Romulz hands Alam Na’s first loss

2ND PRESIDENT’S CUP EAGLES HOOPFEST

-

AFTER inflicting Team Alam Na’s first ever loss, Romulz Power hopes to sustain the momentum when the 2018 Green CdeO Eagles Club 2nd President’s Cup basketball tourney resumes here tonight at the SPC covered court .

Romulz Power, despite playing without power forward Waway Arocha, stormed back from at least 12-point deficit to beat Team Alam Na by the skinniest margin, 74-73 to keep its quarterfinals hope alive.

Tata Bajao, who finished with 20 points, got a timely pass from Daryll Timkang off Ulysses Romulo’s inbound to score a short jumper from the left corner with time ticking away. And with only 2 ticks left, that served as the last straw to break the hearts of Anjum Gomez and Yogi Hembrador’s wards that entered the second frame of the double elimination round tourney—undefeated.

“Kadto ra g’yong backing nga tawag sa midcourt ang hinungdan nakaapas ang Team Romulz. Nalimtan sab ko nila pagpasulod sa depensa,” said Team Alam Na’s bulky wingman Charlie Butron after the game.

Fresh from broken nose injury, Stev Panaz added 12 points for Team Romulz’ victory, while Janjan Babiera delivered 24 markers for Team Alam Na’s losing cause.

Playing two games in one night, Team Alam Na defeated earlier the Boning Biongcog-led

Team Doc Neri as Team Saraus won by default over Team Baba.
