National Library of the Philippines (NLP) issued an International Standard Serial Number (ISSN) No. 26517213 for LENS–The Official Research Journal Publication of DepEd - Gingoog City Division (GCD) last October 5, 2018 through a notice sent to the division.

Senior Education Program Specialist for Planning and Research Helen C. Tanasas was delighted of this feat because “this is for our teachers and I’m happy because they will be credited for what is due for them.” Tanasas added that this is also a “step-up” for the division’s teacherresearchers.

LENS is an academic journal, which features the researches conducted by the teaching and non-teaching personnel of the division of Gingoog City. It is bi-annualy published covering myriad topics in education especially issues and divides enumerated in the different themes set forth by the Department of Education as stipulated in DepEd Order No. 16, s. 2017. This publication provides an avenue for teacher-researchers and non-teaching personnel to disseminate research findings conducted in their respective workplace or station in understanding and improving the culture of the teaching-learning process as well as the systems and processes, which supports academic improvement in the Department of Education.

Dr. Olga C. Alonsabe, OIC to the Office of the Schools Division Superintendent, stated that “this pioneering publication of the division research journal has been conceptualized to fulfill not only a personal fervor but also to introduce a different mechanism to encourage researchers and sustain their zeal in the conduct of research in their circle of influence.”

Last July 13 of this year, teachers, school heads, administrators joined the first Division Research Caravan attended by more than a thousand teachers in the division, wherein the LENS was launched along with the fifteen (15) Learning Resource (LR) Big Books. City Mayor Marie de Lara Guingona and Councilor Myrna S. Motoomull, the Chairman on the Committee on Education, headed the ceremonial unveiling of the journal and books.
