Sara denies substitution rumor

-

ONCE and for all, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio shut down rumors that she will substitute for former Special Assistant to the President Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go in the 2019 senatorial race.

“Dili oi, no, no, no,” Duterte-Carpio firmly said when asked about the issue at the sidelines of the Davao Light and Aboitiz Foundation’s Lineman’s Training Center and EIM Laboratory turnover ceremony held at the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority Davao regional office (Tesda 11) in Buhisan, Tibungco Friday, October 26.

“When substitution, pwede lang siya if you’ve come from the same party. I am not a member of PDP, therefore, I cannot substitute for a PDP member, di ba?” she argued.

The substitution issue came out as the people’s assumption that the lady mayor would run for a senatorial post in the 2019 midterm elections.

But when the filing of the Certificate of Candidacy came and she filed for re-election, some people presumed that the lady mayor will substitute for Go in the senatorial race.

Meanwhile, Go explained why he is running for senatorial post: “I believe there is a need for tapang at malasakit in the Senate.”

Senator Aquilino Pimentel III said on October 11 that Go is included in the senatorial slate of the ruling PDP-Laban.
