LDN celebrates Women’s Month thru cooking contest
WOMEN of Lanao del Norte put their skills to test as representatives of 12 participating towns compete in “Native Chicken with Veggies Cooking Contest.”
Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) spearheaded this cooking contest to showcase the contribution of women especially to their families in celebration of Women’s Month.
Twelve municipalities participated but only three were declared winners: municipality of Lala won first place; followed by Baroy; and Sapad as third place.
PSWDO also spearheaded a Tree Planting Activity in Barangay La Libertad in Kapatagan town where the two women provincial leaders, Gov. Imelda Q. Dimaporo and Vice Gov. Maria Cristy N. Atay also joined.
To formally culminate Women’s Month celebration, more than a thousand women from the fifteen (15) municipalities in the province were all gathered at Mindanao Civic Center Gymnasium, Tubod, Lanao del Norte.
Women’s organizations from the municipalities of Tubod, Baroy, Magsaysay, Lala, Sapad, Sultan Naga Dimaporo, Kolambagan, Maigo, Bacolod, Kauswagan, Linamon, Matungao, Baloi, Tagoloan and Nunungan joined to understand and share the importance of the role of women in the society.
In this activity, women had the chance to showcase their talents, especially on singing and dancing.
Other activities included a talk on rights of women and also a healthy lifestyle.
Provincial Governor Imelda “Angging” Quibranza Dimaporo admired women for their vital role especially as mothers and contributors in economic development.
The governor shared women have a role in boosting the province’s economy through their participation in livelihood trainings and programs particularly into business, through the coordination of different government line agencies as partners, among others.
Meanwhile, women, during the culmination activity, were surprised and excited of the raffle draw. Most of them went home with prizes.
Second District Representative Congressman Abdullah Dimakuta Dimaporo was also in attendance to remind not only women but also men of their responsibilities in their family and in society.
