P1-M drugs confiscated in Davao

-

A TOTAL of 101 personalities were apprehended and P1 million worth of illegal drugs were confiscated in various operations conducted from May 1 to May 19 across Davao Region.

In a span of three weeks, the Police Regional Office (PRO) Davao conducted 78 anti-illegal drug operations. In these operations, three drug suspects were killed after they fought back with authorities.

PRO Davao Director Marcelo Morales said that out of the 101 individuals, 23 were included in the Philippine National Police’s drug watch list.

The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) posted the highest number of persons arrested, with 67 drug suspects nabbed out of 53 operations conducted.

Davao del Norte Provincial Police Office came in second with 15 arrests out of nine drug operations. Third is Davao Oriental Provincial Police Office, with six operations that resulted in the arrest of nine individuals, followed by Compostela Valley Provincial Police Office and Davao del Sur Provincial Police Office, both with five arrested persons out of five operations.

Confiscated in the series of operations were a total of 180 sachets of shabu with an estimated Dangerous Drug Board (DDB) value of P884,000 and several kilos of marijuana with an estimated market value of P4,200.

One of the highlights of the operations was the arrest of big-time drug personalities such as Jossone Michael Dayanghirang, 32, son of Governor Nelson Dayanghirang Sr., and his companion, Rojhel Sanchez alias Ivan, 28, manager, and a resident of Matina Aplaya.

Dayanghirang and Sanchez were arrested on May 8 at Juna Subdivision in Matina, Davao City by joint elements of DCPO Intel Branch and Toril Police Station. Confiscated from them were several sachets of shabu with an approximate total weight of 13 grams and an estimated street value of P208,000.

Morales attributed this accomplishment to the massive campaign of PRO Davao and the intense and diligent performance on Managing Police Operations toward achieving a drug-free community.

For the first quarter of 2019, the PRO Davao reported that a total of 627 drug personalities out of the 463 anti-illegal drug operations were arrested. This figure is higher compared to arrests made in the same period last year with only 326 drug suspects.

“I am commending you all for a job well done and I would like to credit the success of our campaign against illegal drugs to the general public who has continuously supported and believed in our cause,” Morales said.
