Jamaica F&B partners with The Farm @ Carpenter Hill
CAGAYAN de Oro's Jamaican F&B (Food and Beverage) is reaching out with partners in Mindanao in a bid to provide trainings and seminars for hopeful 'baristas.'
This is why Jamaican extended its bartending and F&B services to the people of Koronadal City in South Cotabato, by partnering with The Farm @ Carpenter Hill. With the new assessment and training center to be put up, this will be the first of Jamaican's branch outside another city.
According to Rey Sumania, founder of Jamaican F&B Assessment and Training Center, the memorandum of agreement for the partnership was signed earlier this month with The Farm, represented by Queenie Lao, the resort manager, and was witnessed by Elmar Limpiado, training coordinator for Cotabato area.
The training and seminars in Koronadal City will start in June a month, Sumania said, adding that their module will be the same as the one in Cagayan de Oro City.
"Ang module namin is maibigay namin yung training kung ano yung kailangan doon sa isang applicant (our module we can give is the training that is needed by the applicant)," Sumania said.
"Like kung gusto nya magtrabaho (if he or she wants to work) locally, we can provide him/her a training which is needed nya (by him or her). And kung gusto naman nya ng training na gusto nya mag open ng (if he or she wants a training to open a) coffee shop, then we'll be giving training on how to open a coffee shop. Kung gusto nya mag (if he or she wants to go) abroad, ibigay namin yung module na kailangan nya (we will give the module that he or she needs)," he added.
Having a branch outside Cagayan de Oro, Sumania said, will help those who are interested to undergo training for barista, bartending and food and beverage services in Koronadal City and those in the nearby areas.
"In Koronadal, na-notice kasi namin na maraming gustong mag-training doon (we noticed that there are many who wanted to undergo training). Kailangan pa nilang pumunta ng (And some of them had to go to) Cagayan de Oro, Davao, Cebu or Manila para mag (for the) training," Sumania said.
He said some were interested to be skillful enough to compete with baristas and bartenders from other regions.
Apart from that, The Farm also plans to employ some of the people who will undergo training at Jamaican once they graduate.
The Jamaican F&B has been conducting training and seminar to various places in and outside the region. Apart from the soonto-open branch in Koronadal, Sumania said that the Jamaican F&B will also have its mobile training in Camiguin in June.
Although there is no partnership unlike in Koronadal, Sumania said that they have already started studying for a possibility on opening another branch in Camiguin. Jamaican F&B Assessment and Training Center, located in Jaraula Building, J. Seriña Street, Barangay Carmen, is a facility that conducts exclusive training to bar and coffee shops and seminarworkshop to more than 30 colleges and universities with HRM courses in Mindanao and Visayas.
Established on 2003 as a consultancy firm for hotel and restaurant services, it was not until 2006 that their program was accreditted by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority.
Some of the programs offered are: Food and Beverafe Services (FBS) National Certificate (NC) III, Bartending NC II, Barista NC II, FBS NC II, coffee shop consultancy with hands-on, restobar consultancy without hands-on, Cocktail Recipe Formulation with hands-on, inventory and costing and wine service and familiarization.
