DOLE-Camiguin intensifies 8-hour mandatory OSHS
MAMBAJAO, Camiguin -The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)X Camiguin Provincial Field Office (CAM-PFO) in coordination with the HSE International Health Safety and Environment International Consultancy (HSEIC) conducted a series of eight-hour training for Occupational Safety and Health Standards (OSHS), April 29-30 at Villa Paraiso Resort and Apartelle, here.
A total of 73 participants representing micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs)of the entire island attended the Safety Officer 1 (SO1) Training.
DOLE Camiguin PFO Chief Emmanuel G. Toledo said in strengthening Department Order 198-18 or the Act on Strengthening Compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Standards, they continuously conduct the training to equip employers the right knowledge on providing complete safe work procedures.
DOLE also aids employers on how they can inform workers of hazards associated with their specific jobs, and what appropriate and personal protective equipment to provide.
Toledo said all establishments with a maximum of nine workers are required to have a SO1 that will perform the duty and responsibility on the safety and health standards preventing any accidents to happen in the workplace caused by hazards and unsafe conditions.
The PFO chief added the training was aimed at helping the establishments comply with the requirements of the OSH Law.
“In order also to prevent any losses/damages to the establishments that might lead to a massive penalization during the conduct of inspection, DOLE initiated this training to ensure that MSME’S can fully comply with the provisions of the law,” Toledo said. (DOLE10/ PIA10)
