Provincial board member to raise the concern of presence of Kapa Ministry in Opol town

- By Alwen Saliring

THE provincial board of Misamis Oriental will likely look into the operation of Kapa Community Ministry International, whose satellite office in Opol town

was raided by the agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in Northern Mindanao on Monday, June 10.

Board member Gerardo Sabal III said he would recommend to the

committee on trade and commerce that the issue be heard in the capitol’s legislative body.

“Basin sa Lunes atong matuki kay atong i-recommend sa komitiba nga kini matuki kay nadungog naman ni sa atong lalawigan,” Sabal said.

The raid on Kapa’s office yielded cash and documents of people who were said to have invested their money in a form of “donations.” There were also reports that other than Opol, Gingoog City also has a branch there, but the National Bureau of Investigation and other enforcers have not yet divulged whether they already searched the said branch.

Sabal said he was unaware of the office of Kapa in Opol and he has not heard of any other Kapa offices in other towns.

He said it would be hard for government authorities to monitor Kapa offices because they are not registered.

“Sa karon wala tay nahibawan lain nila office kay wala mana sila permanent nga opisina. Wala gani rehistro sa DTI (Department of Trade and Industry) to transact business ug wala pud rehistro sa SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission) to solicit investments,” Sabal said.

“Kung mag-opisina ka mangayo baya ka og barangay clearance then permit sa lungsod,” he added.

But, with the order of President Rodrigo Duterte to shut down Kapa, Sabal said mayors in the different municipalities are expected to monitor if Kapa is operating in their areas.

Sabal explained that Kapa remains to be an illegal entity because it has not complied licences and permits from concerned government agencies.

“Suportado nato ang order sa presidente nga pasirad-an ang tanang opisina ug ipahunong ang transaction ani nga grupo kay sa atong panglantaw illegal ang ilang kalihukan,” he said.
