PIA-10 hones video prod’n, soc med skills
CAMIGUIN -To effectively implement communication, information and advocacy programs of national scope with the use of new technology and social media, the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) held the Video Production Training and Strategic Planning to the 27 personnel of the regional office and IliganMarawi Communication Command Center (ICCC) at Mambajao, here, June 8-11.
Having a lean staff, PIA-10 Regional Director Erlinda Olivia P. Tiu said the activity is geared towards staffing optimization--creating a balance on work volume and staffing.
“We hope that in this training we will all learn to improve what we have been doing,” Tiu said.
Among the highlights of the training include the overview on social media where Jenny Rose Red emphasized information officers should not just focus on content consumption. “Content should prompt people to stop, interact, and be able share such to other people,” Red said.
Red also cited the ways to optimize the different social media platforms such as Twitter where audience should be treated as distributors, Instagram which can be used in highlighting relationships, interests and timelines, Youtube, and Facebook.
Tips on boosting FB reach, likes and engagements were also discussed such as using native content or posting of original contents, responding promptly to messages or comments, utilizing editorial calendar, knowing the audience through analytics, and posting of videos.
On creating videos, Alaine Allanigue of PIAInfoComm shared tips on establishing shots, movements and angles. A hands-on workshop immediately followed to identify the newly-acquired skills not just on video production but also on creating social media cards.
Tiu said holding such training is essential not only in improving the audio visual materials which the agency continuously produce for it also became an avenue to empower the PIA staff, including the drivers and administrative personnel, in learning and mastering other skills in information dissemination.
