3 Marawi natives arrested, P6.8-M drugs seized in Mandaluyong

-

THREE alleged members of an illegal drug syndicate were arrested while a kilo of shabu worth P6.8 million were seized in a drug bust in Mandaluyong City on Monday evening, June 17, 2019.

Arrested were Raihana Pontino, 37, vendor; Aliola Sultan, 24, jobless; and Jassir Panggaga, 23 vendor, all natives of Marawi City, Lanao del Sur. They are allegedly part of a syndicate linked to the infamous Ahmin Buratong.

Complaints of violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2012 are being prepared for filing in court against the suspects, said Major General Guillermo Eleazar, National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) director.

Eleazar said joint operatives of the NCRPO Regional Drug Enforcement Unit and Mandaluyong Police Station in close coordination of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency NCR regional office conducted the said operation around 11:25 p.m. along Shaw Boulevard in Mandaluyong.

“Arrested suspects are members of syndicated drug trafficking gang connected to the group of Muslims headed by Ahmin Buratong. They continued their illegal drug trade operation in Metro Manila and Rizal province despite Buratong having been convicted and is serving sentence for illegal drug trafficking at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP), Muntinlupa City,” said Eleazar.

He said the suspects eluded arrest earlier but finally fell in the hands of the authorities following the “perpetual intelligence build up and successful buy bust operation.”

Eleazar said Pontino was arrested earlier for illegal possession of illegal drugs but was able to post bail.

“Sa pagkaka-aresto ng Ahmin Buratong Group partikular na itong babaeng suspek na ginagamit nila, naniniwala tayo na malaking kabawasan ito sa kanilang network sa Metro Manila but just the same, we have to pursue our investigation and find out yung kanyang pinagkukuhaan pati na rin yung iba pa niyang pinagdadalhan,” he said.
