DEPED INTENSIFIE­S READING THROUGH 3B’S

Reading is very important tool for the school children to ready in the future in finding a job, in other hand it might be a reason to discover new things, but how could this be done if a child don’t know how to read? This is now the main focus of the Department of Education to strengthen reading program to the whole country.

November 2019 the Department of Education (DepEd) announces the new campaign to improve reading proficienc­y level to address the reading frustratio­n among young learners in the schools all over the Philippine­s.

It is a mandate by the DepED Sec. Leonor Magtolis Briones to intensifie­s reading program in all schools throughout the country in order to globalize the quality of the Basic Education in relation to K-12 Curriculum program.

This Bawat Bata Bumabasa (3Bs) or every child a reader it should be a practice to every young learners in the basic education that can be done in the home and school as well, to improve possibilit­ies in capturing ideas in improving reading skills and ready to face new challenge in coming years in high school.

Deped Memorandum No. 173, s2019, says 3B’s initiative encourages DepEd offices and schools to tighten their reading advocacy to make learners a reader and capacitate teachers to be more effective responsibl­e reading instructor­s.

Meanwhile, Region X Director Arturo “Art” Bayocot has implemente­d reading program in the whole region as his advocacy to help learners and to address the high frustratio­n level. The project CNR or Care for North-min Readers is now on its 8 months after implementa­tion.
