64TH MALASAKIT CENTERwill LAUNCHED IN MARAWI
MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur, Feb. 21 (PIA) --The long lines and tedious processes for availing financial medical assistance
now be things of the past for poor kababayans in Lanao del Sur.
Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go led the launching of the 64th Malasakit Center in the country, Friday, inside Amai Pakpak Medical Center (APMC), this city.
Malasakit Center is a onestop-shop where indigent patients can efficiently access financial medical assistance from government agencies.
Senator Go said he is leading the establishment of Malasakit Centers throughout the country because he wanted to spare poor and indigent patients from having to travel and queue up in different offices, as he observed when President Duterte was still mayor of Davao City.
A Malasakit Center houses the PhilHealth, Philippine Charity Sweepstake Office (PCSO), Department of Health (DOH), and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
He also emphasized that they are requiring every Malasakit Center to have an express lane for persons with disabilities (PWD) and senior citizens.
Meanwhile, Dr. Shalimar Sani-Rakiin, APMC medical chief, expressed gratitude to President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and Senator Bong Go for the Malasakit Center.
“We are truly fortunate that President Duterte invested in the health of Filipinos through the Malasakit Center. Thank you for bringing to us this Malasakit Center. We accept the responsibility of bringing quality healthcare to our people,” she said.
A Php5 million check was also turned over to the APMC management for the initial operations of the Malasakit Center. Accordingly, the amount will be replenished monthly.
The Malasakit Center in APMC is the first Malasakit Center in Lanao del Sur. (APB/ PIA10)
