Police nab another rebel in Butuan City

Camp Col Rafael C Rodriguez, Butuan City----- Police Regional Office (PRO) 13 continuous its campaign against criminality and insurgency which resulted in the successful arrest of an active NPA member and Militia ng Bayan of Guerilla Front 19, Northeastern Mindanao Regional Committee (NEMRC) with six standing Warrants of Arrest, yesterday, February 20.

Police Brigadier General Joselito T Esquivel, Jr, PRO13 Director, identified the arrested person as Juanito Tejero Calipay also known as “Amag”, 28 years old, married, farmer and a resident of Sitio Emerald, Barangay Diatagon,

Lianga, Surigao del Sur, an identified active NPA and Militia ng Bayan member of GF-19, NEMRC.

PBGEN Esquivel, Jr said that personnel of Lianga Municipal Police Station together with Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB), and 1st Surigao del Sur Provincial Mobile Force Company of Surigao del Sur Provincial Police Office, 9th Special Force Company-3rd Special Force Battalion, 1301st Regional Mobile Force Company and Regional Intelligence Division (RID) 13 conducted operation against wanted person around 7:00PM in P-6, Brgy Diatagon, Lianga, Surigao del Sur which resulted in the successful arrest of Calipay.

Calipay was arrested by virtue of the following Warrants of Arrest:

Attempted Murder with Criminal Case No. 19-3584 issued on August 4, 2019 with bail recommended of Php120,000 and Frustrated Murder Criminal Case no. 19-3582 issued on June 27, 2019 with bail recommended of Php200,000 issued by Hon. Lilibeth Ladaga, Acting Presiding Judge, RTC, Branch 28, Lianga, Surigao del Sur;

Frustrated Murder with Criminal Case No. 19-3582 issued on June 27, 2019 with bail recommended of Php200,000.00 issued by Hon. Lilibeth Ladaga, Acting Presiding Judge, RTC, Branch 28, Lianga, Surigao del Sur;

Attempted Murder with Criminal Case No. 10809 issued on June 8, 2019 with bail recommended of Php120,000.00 issued by Hon. Kimal M. Salacop, Acting Presiding Judge, Branch 6, Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur;

Attempted Murder with Criminal Case No. 19-3661 issued on December 9, 2019 with bail recommended of Php120,000.00 issued by Hon. Lilibeth Ladaga, Acting Presiding Judge of RTC Branch 28, Lianga, Surigao del Sur; and

Attempted Murder under Criminal Case No. 19-3693 issued on November 11, 2019 with bail recommended of Php100,000.00 issued by Hon. Lilibeth Ladaga, Acting Presiding Judge of RTC Branch 28, Lianga, Surigao del Sur.

“Rest assured that your PNP Caraga is doing its best to ensure public safety and internal security in the region,” said PBGEN Esquivel, Jr.

“I continue to encourage the community to give your full support to the authorities. Report to nearest police station the presence of lawless elements in your locality,” he added.
