SEASON OF RAIN

LET THE LIGHT SHINE EVEN ON RAINY DAYS

- Text: Cassandra C. Poculan SunStar Writer

It's time to bid adieu to sundrenched days as the country's rainy season has officially begun. While others whine about it being wet and cold, there are also those who rejoice at the sight and sound of raindrops trickling down roofs and window panes. Some find the gloominess glorious, while others get worked up on the potential harm that a period of rain could do. These readers tell us why they love or hate rainy days.

“Ilove rainy days because I’m a pluviophile. The sound of raindrops gives me peace of mind and serenity. It is also the perfect season to stay in bed and watch a movie while drinking a hot cup of tea. Looking back, it brings me to the joyous moments I had when I was still a kid, having fun in the rain with my cousins. But as I grew up, I pondered on the saying, 'You’ve never truly experienced the joy of rain until you’ve danced during a storm.'”

“Rainy days are my least favorite days. There’s something about it that makes me sad and melodramatic. I’d gladly choose sunny days over rainy days anytime.”

STEPHANIE SU, 24

“Despite our rainy season being longer than our dry season, I really haven't found the liking for rainy weather. Rain usually feels like an inconvenience since it hinders you from doing outdoor activities or troubles you when you're running a lot of important errands. The gloomy weather also makes you feel sleepy and sad in contrast to how energetic and happier people usually are when the sun is out. Even with the cozy and romantic feels the rainy days bring, I always look forward to the sunnier days especially the perfect beach weather days!”

“Iused to love rainy days when I was younger. I loved bathing under the rain and floating paper boats on puddles with my friends. Now, I kinda hate rainy days as they might bring floods and horrible traffic. Still, when I don't need to go out, I like nothing more than curling up in bed with the restful sound of rain pattering on the roof.”
