Man, 52, found dead in Badian after fiesta visit

-

A MAN who had just attended a fiesta celebration was found dead in an empty cornfield in Barangay Bugas, Badian, Cebu early Thursday morning.

Police believe that Cristito Pagao, 52, who bore severe head injuries, was struck by a hard object.

“It seems his head was bashed with a rock,” said PO2 William Beltran of Badian Police Station.

His assailants have yet to be identified.

Pagao was last seen drunk on Wednesday night attending their annual fiesta in honor of St. Agustin.

A barangay tanod advised him to go home to avoid any trouble and Pagao took the advice. At 6:30 a.m., residents discovered his body sprawled on the ground.

Beltran said they are still investigating the incident.

Shot

In Barangay Dungoan, Danao City, a man was shot and wounded by a village watchman late Thursday afternoon.

Christopher Meca, 27, was merely trying to pacify a fight between his father and suspect Conrado Gimenez when he was shot. He sustained gunshot wounds in his left arm and body.

Gimenez, 48, surren- dered to authorities shortly after the incident.

The victim's father Cesario and Gimenez were having a fight at 5:50 p.m. Thursday.

“The victim was reportedly drunk and he harassed the tanod. That's why he was shot,” said SPO4 Edgar Gomez of Danao City Police Station.

Meca was rushed to Danao Provincial Hospital but transferred to Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City.

A complaint of frustrated homicide is being prepared against Gimenez.

Nervous breakdown

Meanwhile, a former construction worker took his life inside his house after suffering from a nervous breakdown in Barangay Bili, Borbon, Cebu last Thursday night.

Rolando Comendador, 35, hanged himself by tying a rope around his neck.

PO2 Bernardino Almeida Jr. of Borbon Police Station said the victim was found by his wife Erlinda, 40, past 6 p.m.

“If his illness sets in, he keeps on saying someone is out to kill him,” the police officer said.

Before his death, Comendador left a note and requested his family's remains be buried together with him.
