Lapu may put reward up for culprits’ arrest

According to Dr. Nestor Sator’s autopsy report, Ligaya Dungon, 64, was raped, died of multiple rib fractures; he said more than one person may have committed the crime

LAPU-LAPU City Mayor Paz Radaza said she will discuss with Supt. Rey Lyndon Lawas the possibility of offering a cash reward for the arrest of the suspects in the rape and murder of a 64-year-old widow two weeks ago.

The Lapu-Lapu City Police Office has yet to identify the culprits in the murder of Ligaya Dungon, who was killed inside her house in Barangay Basak last Aug. 14.

Dungon, a cosmetics dealer, was raped, according to an autopsy report. Dr. Nestor Sator, chief of the Regional Crime Laboratory Office 7, said more than one person may have committed the crime.

Radaza, in her news conference Wednesday, said she has yet to suggest giving a reward for the arrest of the suspects.

“I still have to talk with Col. Lawas,” she said.

The family and relatives of Dungon believe the crime was committed by persons who were under the influence of drugs.

The victim died of multiple rib fractures, based on the autopsy report.

Traces of blood and semen were found in her private parts.

She was wearing only her bra when her body was found by her nephew inside her bedroom.

Angle

Robbery is one of the angles being considered by the police.

Two cell phones owned by the victim were missing.

Investigators, however, could not determine if the culprits took away money from the victim, who lived alone.

Earlier, City Hall offered P50,000 to anyone who can help the police arrest Demetrio Malingin, the primary suspect in the strafing of a house in Barangay Mactan last June.

Jerry Aying, whose wife died in the attack, identified brothers Demetrio, Jay and Deo Malingin as the suspects.
