Basak ties up with Pag-ibig for workers’ benefits
PAG-IBIG Fund Mandaue branch and the officials of Barangay Basak in Mandaue City signed a memorandum of agreement for the registration, collection and remittance of all barangay workers and officials to the government financial institution.
The signatories of the agreement were Dale Mark F. Antonio, supervising marketing specialist and head of Frontline Services of Pag–ibig Fund Mandaue branch; Basak Barangay Captain Felipe M. Diano; Barangay Councilman Michael F. Ostia; and Pag-ibig Fund Mandaue branch head Ma. Salve P. Ceniza.
Barangay Basak has been considered as the first village in Cebu City to voluntarily register with Pag–ibig Fund. As provided under Republic Act 9679, barangay workers and officials may voluntarily register as Pag–ibig Fund members. They will also be considered as a benchmark for other barangays to join and register with the agency.
Barangay Basak decided through the Sangguniang Barangay to register with Pag-ibig Fund for their workers and officials to enjoy benefits and the various programs it offered.
The next step will be the scheduling of the registration day for all the barangay workers and officials, which will be done at the Basak Barangay Hall.
The barangay treasurer or in-charge of remittances will also be briefed on the procedures of payment/remittance.
