Former Talisay City Police chief Supt. Germano Mallari has been reassigned to Bogo City and replaced by Supt. Aileen Recla Reshuffle also affects towns of Minglanilla, San Fernando and Sibonga
FOUR police chiefs in three towns and a city in the first district of Cebu will have new assignments starting this week.
Despite the opposition of Talisay City Mayor Eduardo Gullas, the city’s police chief Supt. Germano Mallari was transferred to Bogo City. His replacement is Supt. Aileen Recla. Recla used to head the Investigation and Detective Management Branch of the Cebu City Police Office.
Mallari, Recla and Cebu Provincial Police Office Director Senior Supt. Jose Macanas paid a courtesy call on Gullas at City Hall yesterday morning.
In an interview, Mallari said he has no problem being reassigned to other areas, adding that it is part of a policeman’s duty to accept assignments, regardless of the distance.
In Minglanilla, Chief Insp. Franco Rudolf Oriol has also been transferred to a new assignment starting this week.
Saddened by loss
Chief Insp. Florendo Fajardo, formerly the police chief of Balamban town, will be the new Minglanilla police chief on Monday.
Minglanilla Mayor Elanito Peña ex- pressed sadness that Oriol, whom he considered a very capable police chief, was replaced.
Peña told reporters that Oriol was instrumental in the implementation of various anti-illegal drug campaigns.
He said he hopes Fajardo will continue Oriol’s programs, especially those against illegal drugs.
In San Fernando, Chief Insp. Richard Gadingan has been reassigned to Oslob, while Insp. Diosdado Malazarte assumed his post as town police chief.
Malazarte used to be assigned in Mandaue City.
In Sibonga, Senior Insp. Jaime Santillan has been transferred to Barili. He was replaced by Senior Insp. Reynaldo Geo- lian, who used to be assigned in Alegria.
Only the cities of Naga and Carcar have not undergone reshuffling.
The transfer of some police chiefs in the first district was in relation to an order issued by the Police Regional Office 7 following the failure of some police officials to arrest notorious drug pushers in their areas.
