PRO 7 probes 14 killings of drug personalit­ies

VIGILANTES, fellow drug pushers or police protectors?

The Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 are investigat­ing 14 deaths of alleged drug users and pushers since July 1 in Cebu.

The PRO 7 has released their list of 10 deaths from July 1 to July 28. Before the list was released, three deaths were recorded in Cebu City and one in Consolacio­n, all linked to illegal drugs.

PRO 7 Director Chief Supt. Noel Taliño said that he had sent investigat­ors to the field to handle the cases.

"They are looking at all the angles," Taliño said.

When asked about the security of the surrender- ees as some of them have ende up dead, Taliño said they have yet to receive reports about it.

He once the surrendere­es are profiled they are cleared of their records.

"As long as they will be

honest, walang problema sa security. Iki- clear lang natin siya sa ating listahan (There's no problem with the security. We'll clear them in our list)," Taliño said.

But they are not cleared from the list of suspected vigilantes.

"Siguro yung grupo rin nila inuunahan na yung pulis natin, pinapatay na (Maybe their groups preempt the police and kill them)," he said.

He urged the public to report any sightings of vigilantes.

"We will not hesitate to file a case against them if they will be identified," Taliño said.

In Barangay Calamba, Cebu City "Pakloy" Nabua was sleeping on a folding bed on the roadside with his one-year-old daughter when an unidentifi­ed assailant shot him.

Pakloy had surrendere­d in the Oplan Tokhang.

Pakloy died of three gunshot wounds one on the right side of his body and two in the head.

Recovered at the scene were four empty shells of caliber 45.

In a separate report, two unidentifi­ed victims were shot dead by unknown assailants on board a motorcycle in Lower Peace Valley, Barangay Lahug yesterday dawn.

The Homicide Section said the victims were shot at at 1:40 a.m. by gun men on board two motorcycle­s.

Also yesterday, two men were shot dead by an unidentifi­ed assailants in a separate attacks in the province.

In Consolacio­n Cebu, a drug personalit­y was killed last Thursday. The victim was identified as Ringgo Moro Rodrigo, 32.

Rodrigo was driving his motorcycle from Cansaga,

Consolacio­n Cebu heading towards Concolacio­n proper when two unidentifi­ed gunman shot him in the head.

The gunmen were wearing bonnets. Their motorcycle­s had no plates.

The responding team recovered from the victim's pocket a small piece of paper with a message “TRAY- DOR SIDE SUMBONG SA PULIS” and an empty shell of 9mm pistol.

In Toledo City, a trisikad driver was gunned down while drinking coffee in a terminal.

Police identified the victim as Albert Abraham Flores, 33, of Tubod, Toledo City. He sustained a gunshot wound in the chest.

Police said personal grudges may be the motive of the killing.

In Danao City, a level 2 drug pusher was killed during a buy-bust. The suspect was identified as Eric Mata of Barangay Tabok, Danao City.

Seized from him were a 4.01 grams of suspected shabu worth of P47,318, one medium pack containing shabu, another small pack and a P200 buy-bust money.

“Amo ni siyang gitokhang, wala ni- surrender (We encouraged him to surrender but he refused),” Senior Insp. Alejandro Batobalone­s said.
