Castroverde guns for IBF crown
JERRY Castroverde goes all out at dawn today as he guns for the International Boxing Federation (IBF) Africa super featherweight crown against South African Aphiwe Mboyiya in East London, South Africa.
“I will pressure him from the start,” Castroverede told Sun.Star Cebu. “We will pressure him because this will be our key to beat him or knock him out.”
This is Castroverde's first title fight and also his first overseas fight.
“I told Jerry that we won't let it reach to a decision and leave it to the judges to decide but rather make our own decision by knockout,” said Omega Gym trainer Jingjing Tepora.
Castroverde has won three in a row, which includes a win over Lorenzo Villan- ueva. Mboyiya, on the other hand, is on a five-fight winning streak.
Castroverde is 9-2 with five knockouts, while Mboyiya is 13-2-1 with six knockouts.
Also in the same card is Raymond Tabugon (18-4-1, 8 KOs), who is taking on Makazole Tete (15-1-1, 10 KOs) for the vacant IBF Inter-Continental super flyweight belt.
