MESSING GOES AFTER SHELTON

-

Blake Shelton respects Donald Trump for saying what he thinks and feels. Is it an endorsement? No.

But Will and Grace alum Debra Messing took it as an endorsement, and the politically outspoken actress tweeted at Gwen Stefani to keep her man straight.

“Omg. How? @gwenstefani, please talk to your man to not vote for the person who will strip you of your rights,” tweeted Messing.

She was referring to an interview Shelton did with Billboard magazine.

Billboard asked Shelton if it’s true he’s supporting Trump. He replied: “I’m not going to have the political conversation with you about Trump, or about Hillary Clinton, but I will tell you this: Whether you love him or hate him, he says what he thinks, and he has proven that you don’t always have to be so afraid. A lot of people are pulling for him, no matter how much Hollywood fights it. I see people who don’t like him go and beat up people that do like him. You tell me, who’s crazy here?” While Messing was tweeting at Stefani, it was Shelton who replied. “Hey before this gets going like it always does… I haven’t (endorsed) ANYBODY for president. And I’m not going to. I don’t do that s—t,” Shelton tweeted.

He also conversed with other people on Twitter, indicating that he will let the people decide on who they will vote for come November.

“They can spin it however they want but it’s right there in plain English… I purposely stay out of pushing my opinions on people. I encourage young people to make up their own mind... It’s crazy that in this moment in time. With everything going on in the world that spinning my words is so important to the media,” Shelton said in a series of tweets. After reading Shelton’s tweets, Messing apologized. “Ok. I regret commenting. My passions got the better of me. Sorry. @gwenstefani @blakeshelton,” Messing tweeted, to which Shelton replied: “Thank you, sis. I don’t endorse anybody. For this very reason!” This wasn’t the first time Messing went after another celebrity because of a difference in political views. Last March, Susan Sarandon, a Bernie Sanders supporter, implied that Trump would win over Clinton if Sanders lost the nomination (which he officially did this week). The interview set off a Twitter war between Sarandon and Messing. Sarandon was very emotional during the Democratic National Convention when Sanders endorsed Clinton.
