Lapu Mayor Radaza seeks PRO 7 help to hasten city traffic chief’s case probe

Radaza believes shooting of Traffic Chief Brazil is related to work, since he intensified campaign vs. colorum vehicles

FOLLOWING the shooting of their traffic chief, Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Paz Radaza sought the help of the Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 to hasten investigation on the matter.

As this developed, Radaza said City Traffic Management System Head (CTMS) Frank Brazil is now in stable condition in a private hospital in Mandaue City.

In an interview yesterday, Radaza said she talked to PRO 7 Director Chief Supt. Noli Taliño on the shooting of Brazil and promised that she will get to the bottom of what happened.

“I talked to Director Taliño and asked him to look into this also, nagpatabang ko aron ma- faster nato ang investigation,” the mayor said.

Radaza, who immediately went to the hospital after the incident last Saturday night, said police are eyeing two motives for the shooting.

Radaza was doing rounds in some parts of the city last Saturday night to check on the final preparations for yes- terday’s Cobra Ironman 70.3 triathlon.

The shooting could be work-related since Brazil has intensified the office’s campaign against colorum vehicles in Barangay Basak, and it’s possible that some of the removed personnel of CTMS begrudged him for it, said Radaza.

Some of the CTMS personnel were removed because they tested positive for illegal drug use.

However, Radaza clarified that it was she who ordered the termination of the employees, and not Brazil.

“I’m more convinced that it’s workrelated. The police are working out on that already in their investigation and I have already discussed with them,” Radaza said.

As of yesterday, the traffic chief was still in the hospital and was set to undergo several medical tests.

Brazil sustained two gunshot wounds in his back according to the police blotter.

Despite Brazil’s absence, the Lapulapu City Government assured the orderly supervision of traffic, particularly during yesterday’s Ironman race.

Brazil’s assistant, Mariano Napule and Andy Berame of the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, took over the traffic management in Lapu-lapu City yesterday.
