Sorongon rules Cebu Province Anniversar­y Run

CEBU-based runner Ruffa Sorongon nabbed her third title for this month after winning the women’s 20-kilometer category of the 447th Cebu Province Founding Anniversar­y Run at the Cebu Provincial Capitol grounds yesterday.

Sorongon beat Lizzane Abella and Mari Marivic for the 20K title and the P10,000 cash prize. Early this month, Sorongon won the 1st Javi Benitez Dalagan Para sa Kabataan Run in Victoria City and the R399 “Live Your Dream”.

Rafael Piscos topped the men’s 20K over Prince Joey Lee of Spectrum Runners Club and Jayson Agravante was third.

In the 10K category, Crisabel Cadion won the women’s division over siblings Cherry and Lovely Andrin. Ariel Saballa reigned in the men’s class over Davao’s Elmer Bartolo and Michael Largo of Spectrum Runners Club.

The race, organized by Cebu Provincial Sports Commission, also gave chance to the rising athletes of Cebu with the grassroots category for the young runners.
