‘Drug den owner’ nabbed in Tanke

THREE people, including a suspected drug den owner, were arrested Sunday afternoon after they were caught by police holding a pot session during an Oplan Tokhang in Barangay Tanke, Talisay City.

Arrested during the operation were Noel Nuñez, 32, and Doroteo Radores, 22, both from Barangay Calajoan, Minglanill­a.

Also apprehende­d was Leonarda Cabanes, 65, who owns the house where the two men were found.

Operatives led by Talisay City Police Chief Aileen Recla were conducting Oplan Tokhang in Sitio Tunga in Tanke last Sunday afternoon when they received informatio­n from a concerned citizen that a pot session was being conducted in Cabanes’s house.

Recla and her personnel immediatel­y went to the area and upon reaching Cabanes’s house, they found Nuñez and Radores preparing to sniff drugs.

Even though no drugs were confiscate­d, police found various illegal drug parapherna­lia in the two men’s possession.

The two will be charged for violation of the Comprehens­ive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Cabanes will also be charged for operating an illegal drug den.

Lapu-Lapu City

An ex-convict who was on his way home after attending a wake was killed by an unidentifi­ed gunman in Barangay Canjulao, Lapu-Lapu City last Sunday night.

Mamento Cabalhug, 48, who was previously charged with a murder case, died after he suffered a gunshot wound in his head. He worked as a security guard after serving his penalties.

PO2 Dan Gakuskusin of Lapu-Lapu City Police OfficeHomi­cide section said Cabalhug, who was off-duty, was walking on his way home to Purok Lubi in Canjulao after he attended a wake.

When he reached Purok Sambag, the gunman appeared and shot him about 11:45 p.m.

Unidentifi­ed

Gakuskusin said they had not yet identified the firearm used in the crime. There was no empty shell found in the crime scene during the police investigat­ion.

The authoritie­s will still have to check whether the suspect was onboard a motorcycle or was just walking when the crime happened.

According to the police investigat­ion, the victim was one of the subjects of Oplan Tokhang, but he did not surrender.

Police had been conducting follow-up operations to arrest the gunman.
