LILOAN Vice Mayor Duke Frasco accepted President Rodrigo Duterte’s nomination for him to become Cebu Ports Authority (CPA) commissioner.

His partymate, first councilor Thelma Jordan, will take his place as the town’s vice mayor.

Frasco told reporters yesterday that he received the President’s nomination from the executive secretary and presidential assistant for the Visayas.

Officials of Governance Commission for Government- Owned and Controlled Corporations already interviewed him, and he is just waiting for President Rodrigo Duterte’s confirmation.

He said his party is yet to decide who will be appointed as Jordan’s replacement.

“Ang ma-pull up is from our party since the party has the privilege to nominate,” the vice may- or said.

Frasco needs to resign from his post as the law prohibits one from holding two government positions at the same time, one elective and the other appointive.

Frasco said he is confident his experience as mayor of the town for nine years will be an asset in his new job.

Under his management, he transformed the third-class municipality into a first-class town, which was adjudged as one of the top performing towns in Cebu.

He was also chosen as one of the Ten Outstanding Young Men (TOYM) of the Philippines for public administration.

Frasco got the approval of his barangay captains and constituents to accept the commissioner’s job on one condition. “Basta lang kuno kon motext sila mangimbitar sa pista, naa lang gihapon ko (They want me to attend the town fiesta),” he said in jest.

This is Frasco’s first term as vice mayor. His wife Christina ran for mayor and won.
