USC ATTEMPTS TO HALT SLUMP

Defending champion USC Warriors hope to end two-game slump against dangerous UC

-

AFTER suffering back-toback losses, defending champions University of San Carlos (USC) Warriors will try to arrest their slide when they meet the dangerous University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters in the main game of the 2016 Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) College basketball tournament at the Cebu Coliseum tonight.

In the first game, high school division defending champions Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) Magis Eagles will shoot for their fifth win against the slumping Cebu Eastern College (CEC) Dragons in the opening game at 5:15 pm.

The Warriors failed to capitalize their strength in numbers when they lost 75-61 to the 10-man University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Jaguars last Thursday then lost to the mighty University of the Visayas (UV) Green Lancers, 72-64, last Sunday.

The two losses dragged the Warriors down to fourth place with a 2-3 card for a tie with the Webmasters, who also lost two of their last three games. UC lost to UV, 80-74, in overtime last Aug. 14 and to the Southwestern University (SWU) Cobras, 72-61, last Saturday.

A win tonight will give the winner a boost for the second round, which will start on Sunday.

Rommel Rasmo and the Warriors will be in for a tough order since the Warriors had been on the losing end to the Webmasters in their pre-season meetings. UC is also known for its no-surrender attitude and the Webmasters’ hardwork on both ends of the floor usually give them an edge in defense.
