OLX opens weekend Meet-up Hub in Ayala

-

TO address safety concerns in online shopping, OLX Philippines opened over the weekend its Meet-up Hub in Ayala Center Cebu.

OLX Meet-up Hub is a weekend meeting place where buyers and sellers can transact safely and hassle-free.

“OLX Meet-up Hubs are created to transform that awkward experience transacting for the first time into something entertaining, enjoyable, and carefree. We believe that behind a community that wins together are two individuals who are able to create winning and successful exchanges that contribute to the growth of this community,” said Cris Concepcion, chief marketing officer of OLX Philippines, in a statement.

The OLX Meet-up Hub in Cebu, which is located at the mall’s third level, is open on weekends until Oct. 30. During weekdays, though, buyers and sellers can make use of the OLX Meet-up Lounge at their Cebu office.

At present, OLX Philippines has four Meet-up Hubs located in Trinoma Mall, UP Town Center, Glorietta and Ayala Center Cebu.

“Safety is one of the wishlists of our users, that’s why we set up this Meet-up Hub. We intend to provide a better and safe place for meet-ups. We want to make physical exchange more convenient,” said Regina Aguilar, OLX Philippines senior marketing manager for Cebu, adding that the Meet-up Hub will also serve as a marketing campaign for the company to encourage people to buy online.

“We want to encourage more users to embrace online buying,” Aguilar said.

Malls and offices are the two top popular venues where sellers and buyers meet to close transactions, according to the company’s users’ survey.

OLX has also installed games and activities at the hub to attract more users to transact their business and for users to get to know OLX better. Prizes and freebies await buyers and sellers, including a Grab promo code worth P100 for their ride back home.

OLX has also commissioned a staff member to assist buyers and sellers how to make successful transactions.

“There will be little interventions,” said Aguilar, adding that the staff can help determine if items to be sold are still in good condition.

Gadgets, particularly mobile phones, remain the top-selling item at OLX, followed by laptops.
