“SECRETARY (Vitaliano) Aguirre’s alleged evidence against me is like his toupee, his wig – fake and cosmetics only.”

This was how Sen. Leila de Lima described the alleged mounting evidence of the Department of Justice (DOJ) headed by Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre linking her to the proliferation of illegal drugs at the National Bilibid Prison (NBP).

De Lima said there is nothing true and concrete in the alleged evidence of the present administration against her. “Nothing’s authentic,” she said. In a press conference yesterday, Aguirre said de Lima should prove that the testimonial evidences being presented

According to Aguirre, the inmates who testified before the House committee on Justice also ‘confirmed’ that de Lima had received millions of drug money or “quota” through her conduits: Ronnie Dayan, her former driver; Joenel Sanchez, her former security aid; and Jaybee Sebastian, an inmate

against her by the inmates before the congressional inquiry are fabricated.

De Lima told Aguirre to address what she thinks is the real pressing issue, which is the spate of alleged extrajudicial killings.

“And the criminals, including these socalled vigilantes, are getting bolder, while the victims are getting younger,” de Lima was quoted as saying.

Aguirre also told de Lima: “Senator de Lima, you knew it already. He who alleges must prove. You alleged that it’s fake, where are your evidence? Nothing.

The senator revealed that based on the recent reports, there were some 20,584 minors that have been exploited into drug use and peddling.

“At this point, the DOJ should instead focus its efforts in investigating and prosecuting the syndicates — the real culprits — who force these minors to go into drug pushing.” de Lima said.

President Rodrigo Duterte and Aguirre have vowed to place de Lima behind bars for allegedly using the narco money to fund her candidacy when she ran for the Senate.

Aguirre said that the department through the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) will file cases against de Lima within the year.

He added that they will use everything to implicate all individuals and officials involved in the NBP drug trade.

The inmates who testified before the House committee on Justice also “confirmed” that de Lima had received millions of drug money or “quota” through her conduits: Ronnie Dayan, her former driver; Joenel Sanchez, her former security aid; and Jaybee Sebastian, an inmate.

This was strongly denied by de Lima, describing the accusation as horrid and a clear case of character assassination.
