Hotel guard killed, 3 others injured in 3-bike collision

A SECURITY guard of a hotel died while three other persons were seriously injured in a collision of three motorcycle­s in Barangay Ibo, Lapu-Lapu City yesterday dawn.

Archibald Tibon, 35, a resident of Villa Verna in Barangay Marigondon, was declared dead in Lapu-Lapu City Hospital.

Police said Tibon was driving his Honda Wave motorcycle (OV 9627) on M.L. Quezon National Highway in Sitio Takan, Ibo going to Barangay Pu- sok when he swerved to the opposite lane and collided with a Yamaha Mio Soul motorcycle (9636 CQ) driven by Ronaldo Lalucis Jr., 23, past 4 a.m.

Seawage

Lalucis, a resident of Seawage in Pusok, hit his motorcycle against the Kawasaki Rouser motorcycle (GD 70854) of Roy Michael Peñafiel, 28, of Sitio Iba in Barangay Basak.

Lalucis and Peñafiel were heading toward Barangay Pajac when the incident happened.

PO1 Melvin Eyas, investigat­or of Lapu-Lapu Police Office Traffic Enforcemen­t Unit (TEU), said Peñafiel, Lalucis and the latter’s colleague who hasn’t been identified yet suffered injuries.

Hospital

The three were brought to Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City.

Police Senior Insp. Zenaido Pastorfide Jr., chief of TEU, said that Tibon, a member of the security force of Shangri-la Mactan Resort and Spa, suffered severe injuries that caused his death.

“Posible kusog iyang dagan (It is possible that he was overspeedi­ng),” Pastorfide said.

Dr. Alice Cortes of the Lapu-Lapu City Hospital declared Tibon dead on arrival at the hospital.

Pastorfide was not able to confirm if Tibon was drunk or fell asleep while driving.

Pastorfide and his team are still investigat­ing the matter.
