2 attempts to search both end in death

A day before, a 45-year-old man on a police anti-drug watch list survived a drive-by shooting in Barangay Tipolo

TWO suspected participants in the illegal drug trade, including a nephew of a city councilor, were killed in separate police operations in Mandaue City.

Another person listed on the drug watch list was shot by unidentified persons on a motorcycle.

A police officer of Mandaue Police Station 1 was wounded when his team served a search warrant in Barangay Ibabao-Estancia yesterday dawn.

As of press time, PO1 Ryan Heyrosa was already in a stable condition and was recuperating in a hospital after being treated for a gunshot wound in his right leg.

Heyrosa was among the police officers who served the search warrant for illegal drugs against Elvin Del Mar-Sison, 32, a nephew of City Councilor Carmelino Del Mar, at 4:10 a.m.

PO2 Renato Canja, also of Police Station 1, said that Sison fired a gun first, which prompted the police to shoot back. Sison had been listed No.1 on their stations watch list for drugs.

“Nisukol ni siya, namusil. Naa ta’y police naigo (Sison resisted arrest and shot our men. A police officer was wounded),” Canja said.

Sison was brought to a hospital, but was declared dead on arrival. He had several gunshot wounds.

Police said they seized a 9mm pis-

tol and a .45 pistol from him. Canja added that six empty shells fired from a 9mm pistol were seen in the area.

Seventeen sachets of what appeared to be shabu were also found when the police searched the place.

Another search

An hour later, members of the Mandaue Police Station 5 also served a search warrant against Raymond Bolanon, 24, in Purok Star Apple, Barangay Umapad.

PO3 Isagani Garcia said that Bolanon was the No. 1 suspected drug personality on their watch list.

Bolanon, Garcia said, resisted arrest and fired his .22 Smith and Wesson revolver. None of the police officers was hit.

When the police fired back, they hit Bolanon thrice in his chest. He was brought to the Mandaue City Hospital but was already dead when he got there.

An empty shell and five live ammunitions were inside the cylinder of the suspect’s revolver. Two other pieces of ammo were found in Bolanon’s house.

Police said they got four sachets of suspected illegal drugs from the suspect.
