Police want to find out if gun used has license, reason he fired gun during the fire in Duljo-Fatima

Man who fired gun, in video, says he only did it to break open the windows, so fireman can access the house

THE city police have identified the man who allegedly fired a gun during the seven-hour blaze in Barangay Duljo-Fatima.

Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) Director Joel Doria said they have the name of the man, but they won’t release it while he is still at large.

“Wag nating pangalanan kasi mamaya, once na lumabas yung pangalan nila, biglang tumakbo yun, hindi na natin sila makita and check ‘nyo rin kung ano yung mga firearms (Let’s not name him because he might escape and check what firearms were used),” the city director said.

The Mambaling Police who were tasked to invite him for questioning are continuing their search because the gunman who shot fired at them thrice was not at home.

The license of the gun that he used will be used to determined as well the reason he fired his gun.

“May permit ba sila? Yung license to own and possess a firearm? Kung wala, that means illegal talaga yung firearm (Do they have a permit? The license to own and possess a firearm? If they don’t have that, then his gun is illegal),” he said.

Late Thursday night, a huge fire affected six sitios in Barangay Duljo-Fatima.

Amid the flames, the firemen were shocked when a man fired at the fire volunteers.

Vhanrold Monteron, a volunteer firefighter, posted on Facebook a video of a man in a white shirt, shooting upwards at his house.

“Kung naigo pa to tagaErmita or Kamputhaw ato wa gud tawn insurance luoy kaayo. Di man kami nagsunog sa inyong mga balay, nanabang ra mi og pawong sa kayo. Wa gyud mi sala ninyo (If the firefighters from Ermita and Kamputhaw had been hit, they wouldn’t even have insurance to pay their bills. We’re not the ones who burned your house, we just helped put the fire out. We haven’t done anything wrong),” part of his post read in an earlier report.

Another Facebook user named Naz Franklin also took a video of the alleged gunman and asked him what he was trying to do.

“Para mabuak ra man gud to ang jalousie aron makasulod ang tubig (I just wanted to break the jalousie blades to allow the water inside the house),” the man said on the video, his face hidden.
