300 gambling machines seized

-

THE Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) has seized 300 video carrerra and moli-moli machines since last month, in its effort to eliminate gambling in two barangays before the year ends.

CCPO Director Joel Doria said their target date to clear the barangays under the area of responsibility of Station 5 in Carbon and Station 6 in Sawang Calero of illegal gambling is before Christmas.

“Inuubos na ng Station 5 at Station 6 yung lahat ng illegal gambling machines dun sa area nila. So probably before Christmas, pwede na sila mag issue ng certification na wala nang video carrera at moli-moli (Station 5 and Station 6 are eradicating all illegal gambling machines in their area so probably before Christmas, they can issue a certification that there are no more video carrera and moli-moli machines there),” Doria said.

The operations will continue in view of the pronouncement of Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña and a directive from Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 Director Noli Taliño to stop illegal gambling in the area.

“Most notable yung Station 6. Yun ang concentration ngayon. Even yung special unit ng CCPO assisting Station 5 and 6 at continuous din yung operations nila (They are the police stations most affected because of the concentration of gambling in their areas, that’s why our special units in the CCPO are assisting them),” Doria said.

Ninety-eight percent of the police personnel in the two stations are new following a reshuffling of assignments for police personnel.
