Non-suspension of BIR audits, other field operations during the holidays
PREVIOUSLY, the Bureau of Internal Revenue’s (BIR) issued Revenue Memorandum Circular (RMC) No. 70-2016 suspending all field audits, and other field operations relative to the examination and verification of taxpayer’s books of accounts, records and other transactions.
On Sept. 01, the BIR issued RMC No. 91-2016 lifting the above-ordered suspension of all audit activities to effectively administer and enforce the collection of taxes.
With the pursuit of strengthened tax compliance and amplified revenue collection, the BIR issued RMC No. 122-2016 prescribing all field audit and other field operations pursuant to a dulyissued letter of authority (LOA), tax verification notice (TVN), letter notice (LN), and other forms of investigation relative to the examinations of a taxpayer’s books of accounts, records and other transactions, to continue throughout the Christmas season.
All policies and procedures of the BIR Audit Program under Revenue Memorandum Order (RMO) No. 19-2015 must be strictly complied with.
This circular takes effect immediately.
