Verdict vs. ‘narco’ generals ‘within the week’

-

In July, President Duterte identified three active police officials – former NCR Director Joel Pagdilao, former QCPD Chief Supt. Edgardo Tinio and Director Bernardo Diaz – among the alleged narco cops

THE National Police Commission (Napolcom) may release within the week the resolution on the charges against the three active police generals implicated in the illegal drug operations, Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Ronald dela Rosa said yesterday.

“The three active generals were investigated by Napolcom. I’m also a member of Napolcom as a commissioner. This week a decision will be known about the three generals,” he said during a Senate hearing.

In July, President Rodrigo Duterte identified three active police officials – former National Capital Region Police Office chief Director Joel Pagdilao, former Quezon City Police District head Chief Supt. Edgardo Tinio and Director Bernardo Diaz – as among the narco cops allegedly involved in the protection of drug personalities and syndicates.

As the agency that oversights the PNP, the Napolcom conducted an investigation on Tinio, Pagdilao and Diaz after the Department of Interior and Local Government recommended the filing of administrative cases against the them.

In August, administrative charges were filed against Pagdilao and Tinio before the Napolcom over serious neglect of duty, serious irregularities in the performance of duty, and conduct unbecoming of a police officer. The same charges were filed against Diaz in October. (TPM/ Sunnex)
