UV legal aide to get admin chief position
Navarro to replace lawyer Piramide after Council approves
TALISAY City may soon have a new city administrator.
Mayor Eduardo Gullas announced yesterday that he has appointed Rudelyn Navarro as his new city administrator.
Navarro, 44, formally replaced lawyer Avenencio Piramide, who resigned a few months ago.
Navarro is currently Gullas’s legal and executive assistant at the University of the Visayas before her appointment.
Gullas told reporters that he chose Navarro for the position because of her capability.
Gullas said Navarro will be a good addition to his administration because she is a law graduate and just took the Bar exams last month.
But the mayor said he plans to talk to members of the City Council to finalized Navarro’s appointment.
Navarro, in a separate interview, said she won’t comment on her appointment until such time that the City Council will ratify her appointment.
Navarro finished her Political Science studies at the University of San Jose-Recoletos before she worked as Gullas’s legal and executive assistant.
Aside from being a law graduate, Navarro is also a licensed teacher after passing the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET).
In a separate interview, Prolaine Daclan of the Civil Service Commission (CSC)’s public assistance and liaison division, told Sun.Star Cebu that the basic qualifications for the position of city administrator include a five-year experience in management and administrative work; a second level civil service eligibility and a gradu- ate of public administration, law or any related course.
Daclan said the position is co-terminus in nature and is one of trust and confidence.
Before Navarro’s appointment, Gullas formally appointed Piramide to the position.
Piramide, a former Cebu City councilor, served as associate dean of UV’s College of Law before his appointment.
But a month after his appointment, Piramide resigned his position to focus on his associate deanship in UV.
