Councilor seeks P5K bonus for Mandaue workers
Mandaue City’s local finance committee says City Government has enough funds to give productivity enhancement incentive to employees
Councilor Nenita Leyese wants to increase by P36 the salary of JO workers for helping City Hall deliver basic services to the constituents
A PROPOSAL that seeks to give P5,000 productivity enhancement incentive (PEI) to the casual and regular employees of the Mandaue City Government is being pushed at the City Council.
Another proposed measure was filed before the council that seeks to increase the daily wage of the City’s job-order (JO) personnel.
The two proposed legislative measures are by Councilor Nenita Layese, who is the chairperson of the committee on budget and appropriation.
The granting of the PEI to the employees of the local government units is in line with Executive Order (EO) 201 issued by the Office of the President last Feb. 19.
The order provides that the PEI should be given not earlier than Dec. 15 of every year “for the purpose of improving the government employees’ productivity.”
Leyese also said the granting of the PEI was based on the recommendation made by the local finance board earlier this month.
“The City Government of Mandaue has funds available for the granting of the PEI, as deliberated upon during the special meeting of the local finance committee on last Dec. 6,” she said.
The local finance committee is composed, among others, of the city administrator, city treasurer and the city budget officer.
Increase
As for the JOs, the councilor is proposing to increase their daily salary by P36 for July 1 to Nov. 30 this year.
If approved, it will benefit 2,178 JOs.
The JOs are presently receiving around P340 daily from the City.
Layese said she wants to increase the JOs’ salaries because they have been assisting the regular employees in the delivery of basic services to the constituents.
“The compensation they receive is not commensurate with the daily tasks and works they render. Most of them, while assisting the organic personnel of the different departments of the City, are doing the duties of regular employees,” she said in her proposed measure.
The two proposed ordinances are expected to be tackled during the council’s regular session this week.
