Coop receives help
A COOPERATIVE for persons with disabilities ( PWD) received aid yesterday from a group of graduate business students from the Ateneo Graduate School of BusinessCebu.
The Business Communication class launched the # iAMCHAnge program “to address, in their own capacity, the inequities that exist in society.”
The beneficiary of the program is the Atlas Mining Community Handicapped Association ( AMCHA) Multipurpose Cooperative, which has 150 PWD members.
The graduate business students turned over to the cooperative P280,000 as additional capital for their PWD livelihood and employment assistance.
The cooperative produces wood, steel, plastic and metal works for their customers.
The cooperative also received two compressors from Ford Tractors Philippines that can be used to make tables and chairs. The firm is owned by the family of San Uy, a graduate business student.
During the event, the Business Communication class also sold raffle tickets to raise more money for the cooperative.
The Tsu Che Foundation, through Juan Carlo Yap, who is also a graduate business student, bought the raffle tickets.
Ateneo Professor Teresa Maria Custodio told Sun. Star Cebu that the graduate business students organized the program so they can help other members of the community.
“They are testimony to the value proposition of AGSB ( Ateneo Graduate School Business) that our country is our business,” she said.
The # iAMCHAnge program is an offshoot of the business graduate students’ inspection of the AMCHA cooperative site in Toledo City.
