USJ-R stays on top of Cesafi beach volley

UNIVERSITY of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) is still the No. 1 Men's squad in the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) beach volleyball tournament after remaining perfect with another win yesterday at the Southwestern University (SWU) beach volleyball court.

USJ-R continued its romp with a two-set sweep over Cebu Institute of Technology-University (CIT-U), 21-11 and 21-15.

SWU, on the other hand, split its games, beating CIT-U and losing to University of the Visayas (UV).

SWU beat CIT-U, 21-13, 2116, and lost to UV, 21-17, 13-21, 13-15.

USJ-R is at the top with a 3-0 win-loss record, followed by UV with 3-1. SWU is at third with 2-2.

University of Cebu (UC) closed in on Boys division leader University of Southern Philip- pines (USPF) following a win over USJ-R.

UC squeaked past USJ-R, 1421, 21-17, 15-13 in their game yesterday.

USJ-R, however, won its other game, 21-6, 21-11.

In the other boys division results, Sacred Heart SchoolAteneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) beat Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC), 21-19 and 21-19; University of San Carlos (USC) thrashed USPF, 21-13 and 21-14; and SHS-AdC outclassed Cebu Eastern College (CEC), 21-7 and 21-12.

Meanwhile, USPF crushed UC, 21-6 and 21-10, in the only Women's division match.

In the Girls division, USPF edged out USJ-R in three sets - 13-21, 23-21 and 15-13; UC crushed SHS-AdC, 21-11 and 2112; and USC outclassed CEC, 2115 and 21-9.
