Sorongon, Chepsiror rule Centcom Run
RUFFA Sorongon and Kenyan Eric Chepsiror ruled the 1st Centcom Colorful Night Run 2016, winning the women’s and men’s 10-kilometer category at the Centcom Camp Lapulapu in Apas, Cebu City last Friday night.
Sorongon clocked 44 minutes and 45 seconds to win the women’s 10K category in a race organized for the benefit of the Filipino soldiers deployed in Mindanao.
Lovely Andrin came in 45:38 for second place, while Geneda Arcuino was in third place with a time of 46:53.
Chepsiror, meanwhile, stamped his class in the men’s field, completing the course in 33:42. Chepsiror’s compatriot, Joseph Mururi, came second in 34:43 to complete a 1-2 finish. Michael Largo of Spectrum Runners Club placed third in 38:48.
In the 5K category, Arnel Florentino and Ariel Saballa had a neck-and-neck finish for the men’s title. Florentino had a slight edge, finishing in 17:11, while Saballa came in one second behind. Kenyan James Miebe settled for third place with 17:23.
Cherry Andrin dominated the 5K women’s with a time of 21:09. Geniecel Saballa took second place in 22:06, while junior triathlete Moira Erediano nabbed third place in 23:48.
The Top 3 in the 3K category were John Cliff Debulosan (10:03), Ruel Algufera (10:37) and Jouie Bajan (11:26) in the men’s division; and Michelle Beboso (13:48), Jessel Ochia (14:20) and Angelyn Potot (14:28) in the women’s class.
The fun run was organized by running and triathlon coach John Philip Duenas in cooperation with Centcom. Organizers said that all the proceeds will go to the Filipino soldiers assigned in Mindanao.
