18 schools honored for Brigada

11 schools of the 18 awarded by DepEd 7 are from Cebu; honor will be basis for bonus

AT LEAST 18 public elementary and secondary schools in Central Visayas were honored by the Department of Education (DepEd) 7 for successful­ly implementi­ng the Brigada Eskwela this year.

Of the 18 schools, 11 are from Cebu.

Dr. Juliet Jeruta, DepEd 7 director, said the winning schools will receive additional points in their current school ranking, which will serve as basis for the granting of the Performanc­eBased Bonus (PBB) this year.

In the small elementary cat- egory, the first prize went to Adlaon Integrated School in Cebu City, while the second and third prizes went to La Paz Elementary School in Bogo City and Buenasuert­e Elementary School in Pilar, Bohol, respective­ly.

In the big elementary category, first place went to Candijay Central School in Bohol.

Second and third place in the big elementary category were awarded to Subangdaku Elementary School in Mandaue City and Cayang Elementary School in Bogo City, respective­ly.

In the exceptiona­l elemen- tary category, the first prize went to Mabolo Elementary School in Cebu City, while second and third prizes were awarded to Perrelos Elementary School in Carcar City and Lapu-Lapu City Central Elementary School, respective­ly.

In the secondary education category, Candaping National High School in Siquijor was awarded first place in the small secondary category.

Congressma­n Pablo Malazarte Memorial High School in Balilihan, Bohol, and San Agustin National High School in Ma- dridejos, Cebu were awarded the second and third prizes, respective­ly.

In the big secondary category, first prize was awarded to Lila National High School in Bohol while the Looc Norte National High School in Asturias, Cebu and Dr. Cecilio Putong National High School in Tagbilaran City, Bohol were awarded the second and third prizes, respective­ly.

In the exceptiona­l secondary category, the Jovencio Masong National High School in Bogo City, Cebu was able to win first prize.

While the Kawit National High School in Medellin, Cebu and the Lonoy Heroes Memorial National High School in Jagna, Bohol were awarded second and third place, respective­ly.

Jeruta said that the inclusion of the Brigada Eskwela as part of the points system of the PBB was one way of motivating school administra­tors to improve their yearly preparatio­ns.

The awardees were recognized during the yearly DepEd 7 Awarding ceremonies held in Barangay Lahug, Cebu City last week.
