Entries now open for Marian short film festival

ENTRIES are now being accepted for the short film festival of the 150th jubilee of the icon of Our Mother of Perpetual Help.

With the theme, “Filipino Ako: Deboto ng Ina ng Laging Saklolo (A Portrait of the Filipino as a Devotee of Our Mother of Perpetual Help),” the all-digital film competitio­n aims to “discover, encourage and support the cinematic works of Filipino filmmakers that creatively portray the life and struggles, griefs and anxieties, hopes and dreams of the Filipino devotees of Our Mother of Perpetual Help.”

The genre of the short film (duration of five to 20 minutes) could be drama, docu-drama, comedy or animation, and must include the icon of Our Mother of Perpetual Help.

Works submitted must be produced or directed by individual­s or groups of Filipino descent and/or produced in any part of the Philippine­s.

The language of the film can be any of the Philippine languages; furthermor­e, the filmmaker should provide all clearances of talent and an assurance that the film is free of copyright restraints or defamation.

Interested participan­ts must submit the following: the final work in DVD format (three copies) labeled with the title, production company address and contact numbers, production date, director’s name and running time; the duly accomplish­ed entry form; synopsis in English; a brief resume’ and two recent 2x2 photos of the filmmaker(s).

Deadline for submission of entries is on Jan. 31, 2017 at the Redemptori­st Parish Office in Cebu City to Rev. Fr. Cris Mostajo, CSsR.

According to the Cebu-Manila Joint Commission of the 150th jubilee, the entries will be reviewed and selected under the following criteria: strength and depth of the story, quality of production values (cinematogr­aphy, editing, production design, sound, music, acting and direction) and fresh atmosphere/relevance/message.

Five best entries will be selected the week before the Visayas Congress of Our Mother of Perpetual Help on Feb. 16-18, 2017 and will be shown during the congress.

Each chosen entry will receive P5,000 and will be the Visayas entry to the Internatio­nal Congress to be held at the National Shrine of Our Mother of Perpetual Help, Redemptori­st, Baclaran.
