Kin of slain ‘pusher’ to produce witness

Rights Commission official says they are still preparing case

-

RELATIVES of slain suspected drug pusher Gener Rondina have yet to appear before the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) 7 to formally present their witnesses, an official disclosed yesterday.

Leo Villarino, CHR 7 chief investigator, told Sun.Star Cebu that since yesterday, they have been waiting for the arrival of Rondina’s father and live-in partner to formally proceed with the preparation of a complaint against those who killed him.

Villarino said that the CHR 7 has already assigned an investigator to follow up with the Rondinas on their complaint.

Contact

Villarino disclosed that their investigator was able to contact the Rondinas last week.

But the Rondinas reportedly told their investigator that they will submit the affidavits of their witnesses later as they were still busy preparing the victim’s body for burial.

Villarino said that while the Rondinas have lodged a complaint to their office, it will not be docketed unless they provide the witnesses that will support it.

He urged the Rondinas to appear before their office and finalize the complaint that they lodged so that their investigation can finally move forward.

“Muklaro unta sila para dili sad malangay ang ilang kaso (They should be clear about it so the case won’t be delayed),” Villarino added.

Incident

Rondina, the son of a retired policeman, was killed in an alleged shootout with anti-drug operatives in Barangay Carreta. Cebu City last month.

Operatives believed that Rondina was involved in the selling of illegal drugs.

But Rondina’s father, retired SPO4 Generoso Rondina Sr., believes that his son had attempted to surrender to operatives of the Regional Special Operations Group (RSOG) and Regional Anti-Illegal Drugs Task Group (RAIDSOTG) but was killed instead.

Rondina Sr. immediate sought the help of the CHR 7 to investigate the raiding team that killed his son.

Rondina vowed to provide CHR 7 with four witnesses that could testify against the raiding team.
