Police chief of Alcantara, Barili relieved
CPPO Director Eric Noble cites the officials’ “poor performance” in campaign against drugs

CEBU Provincial Police Office (CPPO) Director Eric Noble relieved two more police chiefs for their alleged poor performance against drug personalities.
Senior Supt. Eric Noble replaced Barili Police Chief Jaime Santillan and Alcantara Police Chief Andres Alpas, saying the officers were not performing well.
“I need station com- manders who are aggressive,” Noble told reporters.
He designated spouses Senior Insps. Jose Angelo and Rosemarie Acupinpin as the new station chiefs of Barili and Alcantara, respectively.
Awaiting new posts
Santillan and Alpas were transferred to the CPPO headquarters to wait for new assignments.
The relieved officials said they have to follow orders and refused to issue further statements, while the new chiefs promised to go after drug personalities.
“This is a challenge for us, but we are excited at the same time,” said Rosemarie.
Noble presided over the turnover ceremony at the CPPO headquarters in Cebu City yesterday morning.
“Kaysa ako pa ang marelieve, sila na ang uunahin ko (Instead of me getting relieved, I decided to let them go),” he said.
He said Santillan and Alcantara were part of the more than 10 police station chiefs, whose performances against illegal drug trade are under review by his office.
Last month, Noble implemented the order of Police Regional Office 7 Director Noli Taliño to relieve the police chiefs of the four towns in Camotes for not performing well against drug personalities.
Improvement
San Francisco Police Chief Philip John Libres, Tudela Police Chief Cecilio Panares, Poro Police Chief Roberto Hugo and Pilar Police Chief Cesar Carlos Alburo were transferred to the Regional Public Safety Battalion (RPSB) 7.
They were replaced by Senior Insp. Janus Giangan, Insp. Sigmund Freud Cruz, Insp. Jade Sumugat and Insp. Emmanuel Rabaya, respectively.
Noble said he noticed a rise in the arrests and surrenderers of drug personalities in Camotes after the relief of the former chiefs.
The official said he is monitoring police stations every day, to see if his personnel are doing their job.
In Cebu City, Guadalupe Police Station Chief Jose Gesto and Talamban Police Station Chief Porferio Gabuya were relieved last week.
Taliño has delegated power to the city and provincial police directors to relieve underperforming station commanders.
