Probe on Rosal group’s other slays

-

POLICE are looking into the other killings possibly carried out by the three suspected members of a Danao City-based drug group.

Cebu Provincial Police Office Director Eric Noble has ordered an investigation on the incidents that involved Jeppe Rosal and his two cohorts, who are reportedly underlings of detained suspected drug lord Alvaro “Barok” Alvaro.

Rosal admitted to the police that he killed Senior Insp. Jonas Tahanlangit last April, but he later recanted his statement during media interview.

Investigators cannot use his early confession and file a criminal complaint against him, but it can be used as a lead in their inquiry.

Tahanlangit was chief of the police force in Poro, Camotes when he was gunned down in San Francisco, Camotes.

He was driving his black Toyota Hilux with Rene James Sampan, 16, and Theresa Ann Montalban, 19, as his passengers when the attack happened. The teenagers were wounded.

Liloan Police Chief Franco Rudolf Oriol said they retrieved a text message, which is possibly from Barok, from the cell phone recovered from the suspects. Barok is now behind bars at the Cebu Provincial Police Office.

Oriol said Barok may still have com- munication with his underlings outside.

Meanwhile, the arrest of Rosal and his cohorts in Mandaue City last Monday night led the police in capturing a suspected drug pusher in a buy-bust in Sitio Tabok Lamak, Barangay Yati, Liloan last Wednesday night.

Oriol said the suspect, Giovannie Salundaguit Maglasang, is on the list of ten major drug personalities operating in the town.

The 33-year-old suspect’s live-in partner, Rizalyn Batoon Laguna, was also arrested during the operation.

Operatives seized 6.9 grams of white crystals believed to be shabu worth P81,420 from Maglasang, a high-value target.

Complaints for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2012, will be filed against the suspects before the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor.
