Landers Superstore to open in April 2017

ADDING to the roster of shopping destinatio­ns in Metro Cebu, Manilabase­d Landers Superstore is slated to open in Cebu in April next year.

Landers Superstore marketing director Pinky Angudong said its one-level, 8,000 square-meter membership store located at 23 Minore Park, the former grounds of St. John XXIII Seminary along Juan Luna Ave. will excite Cebuanos with its promise that it will bring wider options to shoppers.

As a membership store, it sells a mix of imported and local products to members. Angudong said 75 percent of their inventory will be imported goods, which include grocery items, electronic­s, apparel, as well as health and beauty products among others.

"It (2017) will be an exciting year for the retail, shopping industry in Cebu," Angudong said.

She said Cebu, being the central hub in the Visayas and Mindanao, is an ideal location for the company to expand, ,backed by the increasing purchasing power of locals.

Constructi­on status

Presently, Angudong said the store is 40 percent complete. By first quarter of 2017, work will focus on the store's interiors. While waiting for its completion, the store official said that the manage- ment is busy accommodat­ing membership applicatio­ns.

"We've been selling our membership for four weeks. I cannot say how many (have become members here), but it's very impressive," Angudong told Sun. Star Cebu.

Offerings

Unlike other membership stores where offerings mostly come in bulk, she said Landers Supertore offers smaller packs, ideal for small Filipino families.

More than just grocery and apparel items, Landers Superstore will also have a coffee shop, bakery Dough and Co., dining options, and a barber shop.

Presently, it has two branches located in Edsa Balintawak in Quezon City and in Paco, Manila.

By next year, the company is slated to open three more superstore­s, one in Cebu, and two more in Luzon.
