Danao mishap kills 1, hurts 6
One injured passenger, who works in Mitsumi Cebu, has been declared in critical condition
A TRICYCLE driver died on the spot, while five of his passengers were hurt when the vehicle collided with a Ceres bus in Sitio Pagutlan, Barangay Maslog, Danao City at 6:50 a.m. yesterday.
A driver of another motorcycle was also injured during the accident.
According to PO1 Joseph Aledon of the Traffic Management Office of Danao, both vehicles were traveling in opposite directions. The bus was on its way to the north from Cebu City, while the tricycle, with five workers from Cebu Mitsumi on board, was on its way to Compostela town.
The tricycle driver, Jonathan Inoc, 36, died, while his passenger Rosamae Cardillo has been declared in critical condition at the Cebu Provincial Hospital in Danao.
Abegail Cuervo, 23, and Rendelo Llagas, 35, as of press time, were still being treated at the hospital.
In a Facebook post by Mary Gold Mangas, five Mitsumi workers were lying on the pavement, while a man in a brown polo was also lying down, bloodied.
A motorcycle, which was behind the tricycle, was also hit causing injuries to driver Jovelino Martel, 35.
Bus driver Numeriano Rabadon, 49, surrendered to the police. He is now detained at the Danao City Traffic Division.
Rabadon said that he was just running at normal speed, which he said was 60 kilometers per hour.
Aledon said that according to the bus driver, he was trying to avoid a bicycle in front of him when the accident happened, while the motorcycle also overtook another vehicle.
