Man sells drug in bus depot

Cop invited him to office, found plastic container with alleged drugs; he sold drugs to drivers

-

A MAN who sells water for a living and a brother of an active policeman were caught selling shabu in Cebu South Bus Terminal yesterday afternoon.

A security guard of the terminal caught Ernesto Bondales, 40, who hails from Oprra, Barangay Kalunasan, at 4 p.m.

His customers were allegedly bus drivers, conductors and dispatchers.

A small sachet of shabu and seven strips of aluminum foil were confiscated from him.

In an initial investigation, the security office of the CSBT said they received a report that Bondales was selling drugs.

He was invited to the office and a plastic container of an inhaler was taken from his possession, which contained the shabu and the sniffing paraphernalia.

PO1 Myco Baclayon and PO1 Zusimo Malabosa Jr. who were assigned in the terminal, arrested Bondales. He was then accompanied by the operations head of the terminal, Joy Tumulak.

Brother

Bondales’s younger brother, a senior police officer 2 in the Carbon Police Station, said in a Brigada News report that they have repeatedly scolded Bondales, urging him to stop using and selling illegal drugs, to no avail.

He said their mother often acted in defense of the suspect even if the family had tried to catch him on their own.

The police officer said he had cut ties with Bondales for being stubborn despite their warnings and threats.

Bondales admitted that he used drugs and would get one sachet of shabu worth P300 for his customers, like drivers and conductors, in exchange for P100.

Bondales is detained at the Carbon Police Station and will be facing charges for RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Seven arrested

Meanwhile, seven persons including a Korean National were arrested during a followup operation in Sun Valley, Barangay Calamba yesterday afternoon.

John Vernon Alvez, 18, was the target of the operation by the Guadalupe Police Station.

Alvez, in an interview with Brigada News, said he recently sold drugs for two days.

Also arrested were Jovanni Incoc, 24; Judy Ann Ortiga, 20; Anthony Luces, 32; Wendelyn Cañeda, 22; Cheryl Lapay, 25; and Jih Wan Li, 39, a Korean National at 5:50 p.m.

Two small sachets of shabu were confiscated from Vernon, while the six yielded one sa- chet each.

They will be charged for violations of Sec. 11 of RA 9165.
