Capitol investment head quits
THE head of the Cebu Investment Promotion Office (CIPO), Benjamin Joseph Yap, has resigned, saying he wants to concentrate on his realty business.
“This is not my line of job. I have to attend to my own business,” Yap said.
Yap, who headed the CIPO five-man team, was in real state business before he joined the Capitol. His business’ coverage is nationwide.
Yap’s last day in office was last Dec. 16. After all his leave credits are consumed, his Capitol employment will end on Dec. 31, 2016.
He said he does not know who will replace him as it is up to the governor.
He joined Gov. Hilario Davide III’s administration in October 2014.
CIPO’s main responsibility is to make Cebu Province a top investment destination. The office coordinates with tourism initiatives of the province, such as the Alegria-Badian canyoneering activities and Oslob’s whale watching attraction.
Last Nov. 23, the Cebu Provincial Investment and Incentive Board had a meeting to discuss CIPO’s accomplishments.
One of these, Yap said during the meeting, is the upcoming economic fact book of Cebu. This contains economic- and investment-related information about the Province.
It will be out early next year.
